Amanda & Bryan’s Engagement Session

Friday, June 30th, 2006

I had a blast with Amanda and Bryan yesterday at Piedmont Park in Atlanta.

I had an engagement session with Amanda’s sister and fiance last fall so it was fun to see how the little sister was alike and different from the big sister. I am honored to be shooting both weddings this summer about a month apart, which in some ways is a parents worst nightmare or best dream, depending on how you look at it.

So here’s Amanda and Bryan…

As the afternoon passed, I’d show them pictures on the little camera screen to get them pumped up and give them confidence that they really did look pretty amazing. People are always afraid of looking silly or stupid in front of the camera but I always asure them that if it didn’t look good, I wouldn’t be taking a picture of it.

Here’s one where Amanda saw it on my screen and asked me not to show Bryan because she wanted it to be a surprise. So Bryan, this one is just for you!

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic day!

Could you imagine my surprise when I got a call for a wedding in Barnesville, GA just 9 days before the big day? Now imagine that the bride is one of the nicest people you will ever meet (and I could say the same about her whole family). How lucky am I?

So I got to meet some of the nicest folks at her parent’s 50-acre home — and despite them having to battle violent thunderstorms and the dreaded cake mishap (yeah, it was bad), they were a blast to spend the day with!
This is how I remember the day…

See, back in the day, grandma was a wedding coordinator and she owned a bridal shop, so it’s only natural that you’d see a scene like this on her granddaughters wedding day.

At this point I’d like to say something to my future brides. Don’t tell me on the phone that you’re not photogenic and then look this stunning when I meet you… Jacey has ruined it for you and I won’t believe you.

I’ll take another time out and speak to all the brides out there searching for a photographer. When me and my team arrive on your wedding day, it’s a team effort. They know what I am looking for and I trust them to get it done. It is IMPOSSIBLE to cover an entire day of events without my team — when the bride is all decked out and ready for pictures, the groom is getting ready next door, and the minister/brother of the bride is practicing his lines out in the garden you have to be in three places at once. It can’t be done with one photographer. Remember that when you choose someone to cover your day.

Here are a few photos taken by my team on Saturday.

I think Jason almost missed her finger when she winked at him.

See you soon!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of shooting again with Matt Adcock at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation and at the Inn at Half-Mile Farm in Highlands, NC. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day and what a beautiful place this was…

Being a full Episcopal Mass we got the full incense treatment. Actually, Matt got some really amazing pictures of the sun shining in through the stained-glass windows.
