Vicky & Jason’s eSession

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

When I first met with Vicky and her parents I told them they would have absolutely no problem finding a photographer to shoot their daughters wedding.

Meet Jason and Vicky…

This is a quick candid of them chatting as I was getting my equipment ready to begin shooting. This, my friends, is a picture of a man in trouble. Fast forward 3 or 5 or 10 years and imagine Vicky saying “Honey, I’m going shopping…” [is that a question or a statement???] and she gives him these eyes. Jason, I’m a married man of 8 years so believe me when I say that — I’m just looking out for you man.

I wanted to start out with a few images indoors because the home in the Country Club of the South was so beautiful.

Outside it was actually quite hot and REALLY muggy since it had been raining on and off. In Georgia the rain doesn’t cool anything off, it just introduces enough moisture into the air to turn an otherwise normal day into a really hot and humid day.

They were whispering things to each other and making each other laugh the whole time. They were probably saying things like “who’s that weird guy taking pictures of us?”

The light was blinding Jason but he survived quite nicely. Here are a few more of my favorites…

Next year is right around the corner!

Jennifer & Rob

What a fantastic bunch of folks! It wasn’t long ago that I shot Jennifer and Rob’s eSession so it seemed like yesterday that I had them in front of the camera. Their wedding was at the beautiful Cathedral of Christ the King. I love the atmosphere of that church. The tones are so warm and there’s a wonderful sense of history there even though it’s really not that old.

This was the first time shooting at the Westin in Buckhead and I must say that it is a beautiful place. I should take a moment to say a very very very special thanks to Bari Schlam for this referral and many others that have been sent my way since then. Thanks, I really appreciate it!

This is my second time working with Leah Bilz and I don’t know how she does it. She’s getting ready to pop out a baby in just a few weeks and looks so cute I want to post a few images of her but she’d probably kill me. And lastly, thank you to Bonnie Heath who came out to shoot with me and I have a feeling you’ll be seeing more and more of her work on here…

I’ve always been amazed how the right angle and the right equipment can turn a pair of shoes into such a beautiful image.

This is one of my surprise images in that it’s becoming one of my favorites every time I see it. The expression… the beautiful face… the color tones… the simplicity…

As you know I always say, you can’t go wrong with the kids.

Isn’t Jennifer just beautiful!

I mean come on! I couldn’t have set up a shot this good if I tried.

This is one of Bonnie’s images. It’s just a classic.

Congratulations Jennifer and Rob! I hope you are enjoying Hawaii!!

Lia & Victor’s eSession

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Just a quick post. A few days ago I spent the evening helping out Chris and Katie Torres of 6 of Four Creations with a post-wedding eSession with Lia and Victor. If you remember, Chris and Katie flew down to the Keys with me in April to second shoot Nikki and Johnny’s wedding. They have a bunch of good shots on their blog but here’s a couple that I liked…

Talk About Surreal

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you probably heard about Eva Longoria selling her wedding images for 2 million dollars to OK Magazine.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to shoot that wedding. As a photographer, I know that when you book a wedding like this you pretty much can’t tell anybody. It’s the booking that you want to tell EVERYBODY about but you can’t anyone. So on the online photography forums there’s been a lot of buzz about who might be shooting their wedding. As it turns out, it was shot by Bob and Dawn Davis, who are very well respected and couldn’t be nicer people both online and off. OK Magazine finally published the issue and there’s a teaser online…

What’s cool, is that we can take a look at their blog to get a “behind the scenes” view on what it was like and Gary Fong also posted a very cool and detailed chat session he had with Bob right afterwards.
So a big huge congrats to Bob and Dawn and I can’t wait to see all the amazing images you won’t see on the news.

Ben Vigil, all my brides are stars.
