Kaylan & Steve – Zombie Killers (intro)

They look nice and innocent. But they’re not. They’re killing machines.

So I was a little reticent about posting the full blog post on the front page of my wedding blog since some people are sensitive about those things and don’t want to see images of blood and guts when they came to see happy, pretty people in love and passionate about the love of their life.

But if you came to see blood and guts just click the link below. You know you want to. The curiosity is killing you…

Kaylan & Steve – Zombie Killers

A while back Kaylan wrote me with the idea of doing a zombie inspired photoshoot as part of their engagement session. Obviously, this is a little outside of what I normally do but the more I thought about it the more excited I became about the possibilities and the challenge. She had seen a similar session on a wedding blog but wanted to take things a step further. We bantered around a few ideas, including maybe having Kaylan be the zombie but having her getting in and out of makeup would be a little too time consuming for what we wanted to achieve. In the end, their friend Lacee jumped at the chance to play the zombie and the session was born.

We actually did two different “scenes” but I’ll do my best to string them together for you…

Things start out innocent enough. Don’t they always!

Lurking Zombie Chick…

After the initial shock… Kaylan goes into jealous girlfriend mode. There’s no messing with her man!

With Zombie Chick left behind whimpering in the bushes, all is right with the world.

Okay, seriously?!? Can’t Zombie Chick take a hint…

[production note: ignore the fact that Zombie Chick lost her right arm already but has clearly grown it back in the photo above. Cut me some slack, this is my first time dealing with zombies.]

Zombie Chick hasn’t learned not to mess with Kaylan!

And then there’s Steve, nerves of steele. A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do…

Awwwwe, such a lovely couple!

With Zombie Chick disposed of we decided to head over the Old Roswell Mill for a few slightly less adventurous photos.

I LOVE the image below!

Huge thank you to Lacee for being willing to have her arm and head severed off!

I can’t wait for the wedding!

Engagement Session: Katie & Mike at Roswell Mill

Katie & Mike came to me early this year having seen the images I took of one of my previous couples, Sarah & Chris (a.k.a. “the boat couple”). Even though they were getting married in December, we all decided to wait until fall to do their engagement session. So a few weeks ago we met at the old Roswell Mill which happens to be next to their reception venue. We hadn’t met before since they booked me sight unseen (which is happening more and more), so it was great to get to know them in the context of their relationship with all the subtlety of their communication and body language.

The colors at the Roswell Mill were simply gorgeous! I know Katie was nervous but within a few minutes we were all comfortable and got some beautiful images! Check them out…

We may or may not have jumped a locked fence to get these next 3 images. Shhhhhh…

I can’t wait until next week Katie & Mike!

Amanda & Ryan’s eSession

One of the nice things about shooting engagement sessions is that you really get to know your couple before the wedding. As a photographer I get to see beyond the facts and connect with the couple not as clients but as a bride and a groom in love and on this little mini journey to the wedding day. You get to find out where they met and what they do, or the stories behind the things that brought them together. One of those “things” is the dog they both cherish.

When Amanda asked if they could being her I thought it was an awesome idea.

I wanted this one image because I’ve never had a pair of sunglasses that I REALLY like, so I’m always a little bit envious of people with killer shades.

It’s the guy that usually needs a little convincing by his bride-to-be prior to the shoot. And it’s also the guy that realizes “wow, this isn’t such a bad deal after all. We can shoot THESE kinds of pictures any time you want, Ben.”

I just LOVE the look on her face! She’s like: “are they done yet?”

Ben Vigil, stay tuned for… Monica & Rich

Meghan and Nick’s eSession

I’ve known Meghan for a couple years now. She teaches at my son’s school and she has helped out Pure Fashion in various capacities, which I also help out by doing photography. She’s also BFF with Christina who I blogged about two posts ago. And Nick is the brother of one my wife’s best friends’ husbands. And he handles I.T. at the school. Meghan and Nick are getting married in December at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds Plantation, which I am so looking forward to.

It turned out to be a really hot day but they were so very low stress and easy to work with especially in the “down” moments when I’m [supposedly] not snapping away, like this one.

This one is so cute to me.

They had a blast poking around in the water and it actually took quite a while for them to get up to the waterfall and back without killing themselves.

Love the light on these!

Ben Vigil, can’t wait until December.
