Noelle & Patrick in Roswell, GA

You might remember Noelle and Patrick from their engagement session at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens last fall. This was one of those weddings that you just look forward to as a photographer. I had been in regular communication with them about the schedule leading up the wedding day and I knew everything was prepared. I also knew that Noelle and Patrick were going to be just stunning and most of all, Noelle is the epitome of joy to work with. Her enthusiasm is just amazing!

First off, I have to thank my great friend, Patrick, from PWP Studio for coming out to shoot with me. Patrick used to shoot weddings here in Atlanta for years but is now focussed solely on corporate photography and taking care of event photography for the Coca Cola’s and Microsoft’s of the world. It was fun seeing Patrick meld into my world for a day.

Check out this necklace… just… WOW!

And these Badgley Mischka shoes!

The super fabulous Formal Faces was taking care of hair and makeup for all the ladies…

Okay, I have to tell you… Noelle was about to hyperventilate when she realized that Patrick had given her this gift…

I’m fairly certain that Noelle can’t take a bad photo…

I love shooting at St Peter Chanel! It big and roomy and the light is so nice compared to most churches.

All of Noelle’s friends from Priscilla of Boston in Atlanta were there to bustle her dress, which was quite the feat!

Okay, there’s a story here… we decided to grab a few photos outside just after the sun had set… it’s past 9pm and it was still SOOOO hot outside. After just a few minutes Noelle hikes up her dress to cool off a little bit. I just love Patrick’s reaction in the first photo. Of course, we decided to make the best of the situation.

For the photographers reading this: this is completely available light. In fact, the Nikon D3 is such a crazy good camera that I had to add all that grain in Photoshop Lightroom. That’s f/2.8, 1/60s @ISO 5000 and I pulled another stop and 1/2 in Lightroom so that’s roughly ISO 15,000…

Congratulations Noelle & Patrick!

Noelle & Patrick at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens

From the very first time Noelle and I spoke on the phone she was an absolute delight to speak with. They’re getting married at St Peter Chanel next summer and I’m so looking forward to it. Even though they had never been there, they wanted to have their engagement session at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens which are just amazing this time of year. The gardens have changed a LOT (for the better) since the last time I was there.

As I was choosing images for this post, I couldn’t decide between these first two images. The pose and composition are virtually identical, but the sentiment in each is so vastly different. I love them both…

I’m not sure what it is about this image that I love so much. When I was shooting I was really concerned about Noelle’s hair covering her face but in the end it worked quite well. There’s just something about the depth and texture of this image.

Congratulations to you both and I look forward to your big day!

Baillie & Nick, Married in Atlanta

Every once in a while you come across one of those couples that really make an impression on you… and this was one of those couples. I’ve known Ballie’s mother from previous times I’ve shot at St Peter Chanel and I was truly excited when she inquired last year about me shooting her daughters wedding. But once you meet their parents and family it becomes obvious where they get it from.

Baillie is the very picture of class…

My associate Huy Cat was on hand to 2nd shoot with me. In fact, he shot the image above. Here are a few more images from Baillie & Nick’s beautiful wedding day.

Congratulations to you both!

Skotti & Tony in Atlanta (part 3)

I’m going to keep this one short and sweet so that you can get on with watching the slideshow. But I have to show you this one image because it pretty much sums up their reception. Skotti and Tony came out dancing to You’re the First, the Last, My Everything by Barry White, which you’ll hear in the slideshow. CLEARLY Skotti didn’t get the memo about traditional first dance songs.

Check out the slideshow… and don’t forget to watch it full-screen with the icon in the bottom right corner.

Enjoy!

Skotti & Tony in Atlanta (part 2)

Welcome to part two…

Tony & Skotti in front of the Tabernacle

This is where I have interject a little story to set up the next picture…

Fr Todd did the homily (sermon) and he happens to know Tony and Skotti quite well. At one point he told a story and read from an email that Tony had sent him. One relevant fact you need to know is that Tony is 48 years old. There’s probably a cliche or two that we could drum up about a very handsome (I think Skotti would say “gorgeous”), exceedingly nice, personable, “in charge”, and VERY eligible man like Tony who has never married. To dispel any such notions Tony wrote this, in part:

As people see Skotti and I get married they may come to the conclusion that it took me 48 years to find someone like Skotti and although true, the real fact is it took 48 years for God to prepare me for HER – someone that is worthy of her holiness and her goodness.

How AWESOME is that!! Tony’s response was this photo:
