Skotti & Tony in Atlanta (part 1)

Aw…. where do I start?

I’ve known Skotti now for a number of years and I’ve shot portraits and Christmas cards for her and her kids for a number of years too. As a matter of fact, I attribute much of my success directly to her and the chain of relationships that find their way back to her. She always said that one day when she got married that I was going to shoot her wedding and when I found out that she and Tony were heading that direction you can imagine how happy I was for her.

I have a bunch of images so I’m breaking things up a little bit. It’s going to drive Skotti absolutely batty, but she’ll be getting two or three posts on my blog instead of a measly single post. She pretty much deman… uh, “requested” that when I post her stuff on the blog that I leave it up at the top for at least six months. Since I can’t do that, at least I can show her some love this way. :)

Meet St Anthony. He plays a big part, which I’ll get to later. This is what Skotti sees every morning when she stairs at herself in the mirror.

I could tell from a mile away that these two were sisters.

I included this image because that’s Nonni there in the middle, Tony’s 100-year-old grandmother whose been praying for Tony to find a wife for over 25 years. She is so amazingly happy to be sitting there while Tony awaits the entrance of his bride. Oh, and guess who she’s been chatting it up with there in heaven?

St Peter Chanel Catholic Church was just built and dedicated in the last year, so it was a real treat shooting there for the first time. It’s a beautiful, beautiful church and I look forward to shooting there again. I know I’m shooting there at least one time (so far) next year.

I know Huy (my awesome 2nd shooter/associate) will claim that it was on purpose, but he got lucky here mid-zoom getting Skotti in perfect focus and the rest of the frame in trails. I love it.

So that’s it for this post. Next up for Skotti’s wedding is the wedding Mass…

Cristina & Gabriel in Atlanta

Meet Cristina and Gabriel!

When I first met them at Cristina’s place in Midtown I knew right away that they’d be a joy to work with. They are both about as easy going and likable people as you’ll ever meet.

They got married at the Cathedral of Christ the King, by Father Neil, who just happens to be the brother of my wife’s friend’s sister’s husband. Whew, took me a second to write that. The reception was at the mighty Biltmore Imperial Ballroom. It was a joy to work with my new friend Mora Hostetter from Classic Weddings, who coordinated the entire affair and did a fabulous job. Affairs to Remember handled the catering and Catherine Walther did the beautiful florals (check out the slideshow).

My associate, Huy, was on hand to second shoot and Christina my awesome friend and former bride was there assisting.

Cristina and I spent a few minutes before the ceremony getting some beautiful images…

The kiss!

The next kiss! I just love this image in all it’s blurry glory.

Joanne & Dan at the King Plow

Congratulations to Joanne and Dan Garton!

They were both so calm, cool and collect on their wedding day. Okay, Dan was bit nervous but he wasn’t letting anybody know. One thing that’s nice about Jewish weddings is they tend to be much more relaxed by the time the ceremony rolls around because the signing of the Ketubah has already taken place, the jitters are gone and everybody’s ready to celebrate!

They got married at the Event Gallery at the King Plow Arts Center (the “Plow”), home of Bold American Catering, who handled the catering and decor. Like they always do, they did a amazing job. It been too long since I’ve worked with Susan Graham but it was just like old times. She was fantastic keeping everything orderly and on cue. It’s so relaxing when a good coordinator is on board.

My trusty associate, Huy, was along for this wedding and this is one of those shots that he is so good at:

I love this moment. It’s not the usual view of the cermony but…

Floral were handled by Eva Behrendt and her team at by Tulip. I’m always in awe of their work! You’ll see their work above and below and throughout the slideshow.

And a quick mention to my new friends with Atlanta Beat who provided great music for the evening. This same image is in the slideshow in b&w.

For the slideshow music, I chose to use the song that Joanne and her father danced to for the father/daughter dance. It’s the song “Sunrise, sunset”, which I was surprised to find in over 120 different versions on iTunes going back to the 1950’s. Don’t forget to watch it full-screen with the icon in the bottom right corner.

Enjoy!

Meghan & Nick at Reynolds Plantation

It was such a pleasure to shoot Meghan and Nick’s wedding at Reynolds Plantation! The wedding was at Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church and the reception was at the amazing Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation

So let’s start at the end, shall we… meet Meghan and Nick:

I’ve known Meghan a couple years through various friends but mostly through my old assistant, Christina, whose wedding I shot over the summer and who was also a bridesmaid at Meghan’s wedding. Meghan was so STUNNING!

I actually knew Bill, Meghan’s dad, years before Meghan. Check out this shot of daddy greeting his daughter. I just LOVE this shot that my associate, Huy, took!

So remind me again why Meghan is coaching sports…???

Here’s the former Archbishop of Atlanta, who concelebrated the wedding Mass, and Nick just before the start of the wedding.

One of my favorites of the day…

Here’s another favorite…

Oh wait a second, another favorite…

Both Meghan and Nick are trying to hold it together during the toasts by their parents.

You’ve never see a more proud father…

The peace of knowing you’re exactly where God wants you to be…

Congratulations Meghan and Nick!

So check out the slideshow for a bunch more images and remember that you can view the slideshow full-screen by clicking the last icon on the bottom right.

Enjoy!

Congrats to Chris & Stephanie!

Congratulations to Stephanie & Chris who just gave birth to Sutton Elizabeth Mills a few weeks ago!

Here’s an image from their wedding. Who knew that night as they toasted their new life together that it would include a honeymoon baby?!!

I wish I had a picture of the baby to post but this one will have to do. I’ve chatted with Stephanie’s mother a few times over the holidays and she’s kept me informed. I was a little surprised that Stephanie beat Maria (my wife) to the punch but I hear that everything went just as planned and there were no problems.

Congratulations again!
